Take a microscopic look at the insect world on the big stage! The story of the monarch butterfly makes for incredible drama as young students watch each stage of the life cycle – from tiny egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly – come to life through songs, dances and giant puppets. The monarch undertakes an incredible 1,500 mile journey to Mexico, joined along the way by a host of other creatures from the insect world, from the lowly earthworm to the glorious dragonfly. With her insect companions, she learns that one hero of the story is not an insect or an animal at all, but a very special plant.

Harper Lee’s 1960 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is unquestionably an American classic. Both heartwarming and chilling, the story gains additional depth on the stage, creating for audiences an unforgettable artistic and human experience. In this hour-long adaptation, drama and discussion combine to bring the famous trial scene to life. Students will find themselves transported to a sleepy southern town in the 1930s and discover that the issues of that time – prejudice, racism, courage and human values – are issues of all time.
