Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts presents events for students, teachers and the community through our Center for Arts in the Schools program. Through curriculum-enhancing performances, professional development workshops, master classes and other outreach, the program offers unique opportunities to explore the creative arts.
Support arts education by becoming an Associate! Public and private school districts, as well as home school organizations, are invited to become Associate Members of the Center for Arts in the Schools. Associate Member schools receive discounts on registration for teacher workshops and student matinees, participation in our liaison program, and advance notice of scheduled events. Contact Anjie Nowell for more information regarding member fees and benefits. New Associate Members and renewals will be accepted through September 30, 2010 and are effective through June 30, 2011.
THE KENNEDY CENTER
Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts and Springfield Public Schools are members of the Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, working to foster partnerships among arts organizations, schools and communities. Selected because of a demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, the partnership team participates in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education.
New for 2010, our partnership has also been selected to participate in a new Kennedy Center initiative, called Any Given Child. Kennedy Center staff members are working with local school administrators, arts and civic leaders to develop a long-range plan to provide equity and access in every K-8th grade student’s arts education. Springfield is only the second
city in the nation to be selected for this initiative, and we are thrilled with
the opportunity to participate!
